With relentless hours working erratic shifts and away from home, time for my children became a luxury. Observing my eldest daughter's rapid growth, I realized how much precious time I was losing. It wasn't uncommon to work from 7:00 a.m. one day to 11:00 p.m. the next, all while the earning was barely adequate. My routine consisted of a brief rest followed swiftly by another taxing shift. I yearned for a break from a life of labour that lacked freedom.
